My name is Mark Witteveen and I live in Kodiak, Alaska. My sculptures are created from steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel sheetmetal. I use an array of unique tools and techniques to bring a three dimensional, lifelike shape to each piece. My process involves buffing, heating, and applying patina to bring a variety of colors and depth to each piece. The shiny, bright attributes of the metals bring light into a room and the unique texturing applied to the metals give an appearance of movement when one’s perspective changes.
